Informational Design

Let me introduce you to Alice and Dirk. Alice and Dirk are anthropometric models. Anthropometrics is the study of the dimensions of the human body. This information can be used to help designers, engineers or anyone working on products or spaces that must be fit for humans.

This data sheet was created when I was living in Germany and the names of the models created for the sheet are Alice Elbe (alles elbe) meaning "all the same" in German and Dirk Schnitt (durchshcnitt) meaning "average". The models were based on those found in the Human Integration Design Handbook (HIDH) published by NASA.

The sheet contains some of the most useful dimensions relevant to design and engineering for human use. The data contained relates to American and British humans. If you'd like a copy for your own use feel free to contact me.
